Problem/Motivation
The intent of this issue is to help the maintainer(s) coordinate community efforts in the creation of a stable release. Community involvement is only intended as a suggestion; it is up to maintainers to ultimately decide the creation of, and what goes into, a stable release. If you are not interested in using this issue, please mark the issue as Fixed or Closed (works as designed).
As of the creation of this issue, this project presently does not have a stable release compatible with Drupal 8+. There are many benefits to publishing a stable release for a module.
Release-blocker issues
- issues tbd
Good-to-fix issues
- issues tbd
Above and beyond tasks
- Create issue fix list for stable release using the grn tool.
Remaining tasks
- Establish a list of release-blockers and 'good-to-fix' issues for a stable release.
- Resolve above issues blocking the release of a stable release.
- Craft changelog for new release.
- Create new release.
Original report
It's been over 3 years since beta1 was released, and many sites are using this module now without the benefit of security coverage.
It'd be great if we could get a 1.0 release out.
What needs to happen to get a 1.0 release?

jibranI'll try to get this over the weekend.

xem8vfdh commentedawesome @jibran!

nicrodgersIf there's anything we can do to help @jibran please just ask, happy to help.
jibranIt would be great to get some bugs and BC issues RTBC.
nicrodgersI've reviewed all the "needs review" 8.x issues and have been able to RTBC most of them. A few need some work.
I noticed that the patches aren't being tested by the testbot. I created #3093244: Automated tests are not running for that. If we can get that fixed, it'd be worth running the testbot on all the RTBC issues just to double-check.

xem8vfdh commentedWork still needs to be done here?
jibranI just created a beta3 version. Thank you @dawehner for the help. If we have any major or critical bugs to address before 1.0 this is the time to get them RTBC.
I'm planning to release a stable version in a fortnight.
xem8vfdh commentedYes!!! thanks for the awesome work @jibran and @dawehner (bonus points to @jibran for use of "fortnight")
xem8vfdh commentedJust wanted to ping @jibran and @dawehner to see where we are on this

WebbehUpdated the issue summary (IS) to reflect a proposed 'stable release plan' template in #3239062: 'Stable Release Request' Issue Template. Let's get that IS updated with blockers, nice to haves, and focus on knocking 'em out!
xem8vfdh commentedgreat, thanks @Webbeh!
xem8vfdh commentedit's been quite a while. Are maintainers still monitoring? It sure would be nice to have a stable release :)
jwineichen commentedWhile this is still getting a stable release, I've been using Twig Tweak which allows for some of the basic functionality by writing twig code into a custom text field in the view. There's documentation here: https://www.drupal.org/docs/contributed-modules/twig-tweak-2x/twig-tweak.... However, there is a bug in 10.3 that I was able to get around by escaping the argument following this comment: https://www.drupal.org/project/twig_tweak/issues/3457069#comment-15692762.
xem8vfdh commentedthanks for the info @jwineichen!
hopefully this module is still maintained and get a new (Drupal 11 supporting) stable release soon.

ressaThanks for all your work on this module @jibran, I realized today how many modules overlap in this space in #3198145: Elaborate how this project distinguish from others.
This module stands out a little, being "Minimally maintained", slightly low GitLab activity and 11 RTBC issues for modern Drupal ... I wonder if a link to alternative modules could be considered added on the project page to Comparison of Views embedded field modules?
imclean commentedI'm not sure this can be compared to Entity Extra Field (or other modules mentioned in that issue), they perform differenct functions, with potentially some minor overlap.
This module is a robust way to embed one view as a field in another view, including contextual filters. We've used it extensively, including with the REST Export Nested module.
There are over 35,000 users of Views Field View. The low GitLab activity along with high usage may just indicate it's working well as it is.
If there are other modules which perform this exact function (embed one view in another) then they could potentially go on the project page, but I think adding every "extra field" module might just confuse people.
ressaThanks @imclean for clarifying, and that the metrics may just show that the module works well, I really appreciate it.
Your suggestion of possibly mentioning other modules, which perform this exact function (embed one view in another) on the project page makes total sense.
I wanted to see a real use case for this module, and found a great example with Charts by @andileco:
https://www.drupal.org/docs/8/modules/charts/charts-howtos-0/50x-creatin...
xem8vfdh commentedI use this module in real use cases, as do all other users... ?
mortona2k commentedI often resort to this module as a workaround for views aggregation issues.
ressaThanks for sharing @mortona2k! Like I wrote, there are practically no use cases on the internet of how to actually configure and use this modules, except for the one with Charts, so that's really great to know. That's one way to use it.
Ideally, this module would have a few use case examples, and how to set them up, like Charts HowTos: https://www.drupal.org/docs/8/modules/charts/charts-howtos-0
If you have time, feel free to create a https://www.drupal.org/docs/contributed-modules/views-field-view Guide and share an example of how you use it, since I assume the set up process is not that lengthy? I can create the Guide and Page if you want.
I am sure we can all agree, more documentation is always a good thing :)
mortona2k commentedI put up a quick description:
https://www.drupal.org/docs/extending-drupal/contributed-modules/contrib...
ressaThanks @mortona2k, nice! I turned the Guide into an intro, and moved the tutorial into a doc Page under the Guide here:
https://www.drupal.org/docs/extending-drupal/contributed-modules/contrib...
I don't have permissions to add it to the menu, probably because new pages in the Guide have been set to "Require review":
Perhaps you can add it to the menu under "Menu settings > Provide a menu link" at the bottom, so it gets shown under the Guide? Thanks!
Edit: I created #3553463: Document examples on how to use the Views Field View module .
mortona2k commentedOk, done.
imclean commentedThese are all pretty much describing the same scenario, but they might be helpful to someone.
ressaThanks both of you, I added the examples here: https://www.drupal.org/docs/extending-drupal/contributed-modules/contrib...
