What's the difference between using this module and using the combination of Entity Browser and Inline Entity Form? The latter option seems more popular.

I've recently tried with Entity Connect, but got some unexpected behaviors. The select/add icons appears in arbitrary regions, like the page header and reference fields where not needed. I think it should provide a custom field widget rather than alter the base widget.

Entity Browser + IEF appears to be more stable, well maintained and has a modern approach.
