Proposed resolution
I propose the following “I want heading” to be added to /community:
Add the content you want to be added to the website, according to the format described below. You should refer to the Content Guidelines for Documentation for language style and #3003061: [META] Description of page layout and requirements for headings for a wider understanding of final layout.
I want to get a job working with Drupal
To ensure your best opportunities for a career in Drupal, you might want to consider using your Drupal profile to demonstrate your understanding of the project, through updating information about yourself and your experience. Also, if you contribute to the Drupal project, your profile will automatically list contribution credits for the work you get involved in.
Here are some places to look for jobs:
- Drupal Jobs
- Generic job-searching and professional networking sites can also be good resources for finding Drupal jobs. You can join Drupal groups on sites like LinkedIn, and search using Drupal keywords on job sites.
You can also connect with other members of the Drupal community, through:
- Instant messaging tools, such as Slack (sign up, then join channel(s) #jobs and #jobs-remote) and DrupalChat.me (sign up, then join channel(s) #jobs).
- Meeting prospective employers face to face at an event local to you. Indeed, looking for new employees is often one of the reasons sponsors are at an event. You can find Drupal events at https://drupical.com

bramdriesenMaybe change groups.drupal.org to
Drupal Groups? :)Or is there a specific reason to keep it as "groups.drupal.org"?
jhodgdonMinor edit.
Also... I'm not sure we should point people towards groups.drupal.org. Since the advent of Drupal Jobs, the "Job" content type on groups.drupal.org was discontinued, and people are not supposed to post jobs there.
We might suggest people go to local meetups and camps though? Many of the camps have job boards, and local/regional events are a good place to meet agencies that might be hiring?
bramdriesenThat's indeed a good point. Maybe indeed better then to remove Drupal groups and instead point to LinkedIn Drupal developer groups (there are a few) or point to slack channels dedicated to job postings.
rachel_norfolkYes - good point on the jobs - let's just keep it to jobs.drupal.org and going to events
I'm reticent to link to walled-garden jobs sites like LinkedIn - not everyone is a member. (such as myself)
jhodgdonRegarding LinkedIn, we could have a bullet point that says something like:
* Generic job-searching and professional networking sites can also be good resources for finding Drupal jobs. You can join Drupal groups on sites like LinkedIn, and search using Drupal keywords on job sites.
Regarding #5, are their Drupal Slack channels for job postings? I don't see anything on
https://www.drupal.org/slack
or on the drupalchat.me page
https://www.drupal.org/node/2958812
(which needs a URL alias!)
bramdriesenHi,
Yes there are dedicated channels for job postings. E.g.:
- #jobs and #jobs-remote on the drupal.slack.com slack.
- #jobs on drupalnl.slack.com
- #vacatures (dutch for job postings) on drupalbe.slack.com
#jobs is also available on drupalchat.me.
I guess that it's just not listed on the /slack / druapchat pages.
I like the LinkedIn wording in #7
Comment #9
jhodgdonI verified the Slack channels and am adding them to the Slack page. But let's definitely add them to the "I want to find a job" section too! I think just Slack and drupalchat.me.
bramdriesenCool! :) Indeed for the general slack I would add the #jobs and #jobs-remote to this page and maybe some reference to also check the local slack channels, unless it's getting really clear from the https://www.drupal.org/slack page of course :)

rachel_norfolkupdated groups url
Comment #12
rachel_norfolkUpdated with comments (would be good if we set the issue to "Needs work" when there is work to be done ;-) )
bramdriesenLooks pretty good so far in my opinion.
jhodgdonSee comment #4. We should not be linking to groups.drupal.org.
Also I think we should maybe say that looking for employees is *one of* the main reasons companies sponsor events, not necessarily that it is *the* main reason. ??

jhodgdonDo we need a separate issue to discuss standardizing the instructions for slack/drupalchat? I don't think we should be telling people how to join, but instead linking to the existing docs pages, and we've been discussing this on several other issues.
Other than that, this looks good to me!
jhodgdonI created #3008663: Standardize items about Slack and DrupalChat to discuss how we should refer to chat stuff, so we can standardize and discuss it in one place.
