I could be hoping. But we woud like to bulk add lot's of files and then either clone these but to have different filenames or to have a different filename for different users to download them as. So far I have been playing with "bulk file nodes" module to bulk import images and set a "UID" field on each node and then rules to clone or replicated and rename the files but I can't seem to get it working. Any help or another approach would be much apprecated.

What kind of file do you plan
Can you write all chain of operations with images that you want to do? So I could try to reproduce this.
Ideally images and videos but
Ideally images and videos but not so many videos so I was going to use a separate content type for them. The idea is we can bulk upload a bunch of Image files and we are also needing editable fields for each image which is why I opted for the bulk file nodes module. Editable fields include some term references and some tags. Chain of events is as follows:
- Bulk upload image files
- Edit fields for files which include some term references and 2 x UID text fields
- Images are either cloned and the files are renamed using the UID fields (each additional image is UID_0, UID_1 etc) or a user has the option to download the files with the UID as the filename. I did use file field paths and file field rules for this but it renames the original file for some reason.
That's about it. I'm struggling to find any other ways to rename files.
Thanks
It looks like I have found
It looks like I have found one solution. It can be done using 'File System Rules' and 'File (Field) Paths' modules.
If this issue is still actual then I can share it.
But I don't understand for what do you need the same files with different names?
That's awesome. I have tried
That's awesome. I have tried this but whatever I do it renames the original file. I'm also using S3FS but I didn't think it would make a difference. The renaming is for a potential client, one of their customers has a different naming convention and at the moment they are manually renaming files for them. I was looking to see if we could automate it to make their lives easier.
Whatever I seem to do it renames the original file with the same as the destination or renames it "original_0". I also tried a clone or replicate and then create a new entity and copy the file but it still renames the original. How did you manage to get yours to work?
Also, why the name wombatbuddy? - it's a cool name.

I have attached the export of the Rule from the example and some screenshots. I think you will understand.

Sorry for the delay and thanks again for your help on this.
Unfortunately we are currently using S3FS and I'm unable to get FS_rules to create a directory in S3. I'm only using S3 for private, pointing the rule at public works ok but not private. Also we may have 20+ files at a time which is why I looked at creating a new node for each one and then using file rules rather than have a field for each file. I guess that could still work though if we create lot's of fields it would onlu use the ones required?
Thanks again.
I don't understand if this
I don't understand if this issue still actual for you? If so then maybe custom module will be more easier solution.
Yes we still have the issue.
Yes we still have the issue. I'm thinking custom module may be the way to go. I'm not much of a coder though so I think we may have to outsource. Any recomendations for companies providing custom modules?
I can recommend myself.

Awesome. I sent you a PM.
