Switched to using Install Profile API to change the default site theme. Previously, a workaround provided by Managing News was used to change the default theme as a bug in Drupal core made it difficult to do this. Though important, this change should be transparent to users.
The only change from version 1.1 is that this version includes the newly-released Drupal 6.15, which brings maintenance fixes non-critical security fixes.
The most important improvement is that this release makes use of Drupal's new installation profile packaging system. This allows the profile to ship with Drupal core and all required modules, which should make installation much easier for users. Other changes are outlined below.
Beta 2 includes improved taxonomy navigation, pre-set Views, improved image display, and other enhancements. Overall, beta 2 contains most of the features that will be available in the final release.
At this time, any testing would be greatly appreciated. Bug reports and feature requests are always welcome.
Although beta 2 is mostly stable, it is recommended for Drupal enthusiasts and testers only.
