I am trying to update Views_Isotope 7.x-1.0-beta2 to Isotope 7.x-2.0 in an up to date D7.51 site (this is the only module remaining to fully complete the update).

I don't want to modify anything in the appearance, just trying to reproduce the same look that is already set with the old module (via Views).

But I realize the new module created different classes from the old one. Also, the new module creates ULs and LIs, while the old one wrapped everything in DIVs.

Could someone give some tips or point to some post where I can learn the correspondence between the new classes and HTML elements with the old ones?

What should be the minimal changes in Views and CSS so that the new module reproduce the same look as the old one?

Thank you very much for any help.

What we really need is an update path.

Look, to be honest, if you are not confident with updating your CSS, I would probably just not upgrade... continue using the 1.x branch... if that does everything you need, there's not much point upgrading... They are two entirely different modules from a code standpoint and I wouldn't hold your breath for any sort of crossover plugin. The use of this module at all requires your own CSS styling. There has been talk about making a UI for basic styles, but as of right now, knowledge of CSS is a prerequisite.

Hi Chris,

Reading the OP’s post doesn’t seem to indicated any issue of whether someone is confident with updating CSS.

And telling the user to stick with the Views Isotope 1.x branch is not an acceptable answer. That’s like you’re saying, “I, a Drupal project maintainer, recommend you don’t apply security updates, so enjoy the next Drupagedon!”

Much less that drush is telling us that Views Isotope 1.x isn’t supported at all.

Views Isotope (views_isotope) 7.x-1.0-beta2 Installed version not supported

Understand, the poster is NOT requesting how to upgrade from Isotope 1.x to 2.x *, they are wanting to know how to migrate from:

https://www.drupal.org/project/views_isotope
to
https://www.drupal.org/project/isotope

* Not that the maintainers for Isotope shouldn’t also have created a full guide on how to upgrade from Isotope 1.x to 2.x when they produced the 2.x branch. Can you link to that as well?

As far as I can tell, you are the main Maintainer for both? And while I understand a maintainer wanting to make their life easier, why was there no documentation produced (several?) years ago on how to move from Views Isotope to Isotope when you deprecated the former?

So, to reiterate the OP:

What do we need to do to go from the Views Isotope module you deprecated to the Isotope module you replaced it with?

Agreed, some guidance needed here. Staying with the deprecated and unsecure module does not seem a great option.

I need this as well.
