colanLooks like there's a working branch: #1847994: 8.x port of maillog, but no stable release yet: #2633676: Plan for MailLog 8.x-1.0 release.
colanAs there's no activity in the plan issue, can we simply deprecate this module in favour of Reroute Email? It has a stable release. Any objections?

mmjvb commentedObject to setting Closed(Duplicate) pointing to Reroute Email as alternative. Consider that misleading. It suggests an informed decision not to continue the port.
Current state reflects actual situation, which is the objective of D8CPT. It doesn't provide a status for your sentiments.
The alternative might be your only option for now, it is not an equivalent. The solutions provided differ, they implement different solutions to the business problem.

mmjvb commentedNoticed an unused status: Closed (Outdated) which could be used here. Don't know how it appears on the project itself. We might use it for all those issues in this project that just linger here. We should document/discuss when to use this.

jasonluttrellmmjvb raised a good point. While I'm willing to work with the Reroute Email module, the aspect about Maillog which is greatly appreciated is that it helps to create a log of emails that can be audited at any time. Rerouting emails to your own inbox can help but it is still not as convenient as a single source for record-keeping. So, yes, while it may be the only option to use the alternative module, it is not an equivalent replacement, at least not out-of-the-box. I see a patch to log emails at https://www.drupal.org/project/reroute_email/issues/3030877. It would be nice if this could be ported. Thanks.

jasonluttrellAs an update to my previous comment, after using Reroute Email with the patch to log to the db logs, I think it mostly does the job. In some ways, it's not as easy-to-use, as it requires permission to access the database logs, but in other ways it has more functionality. In the absence of a D8 Maillog alternative, it will suffice.

alison@jasonluttrell Maybe comment on that issue thread to say you've reviewed it, to help move it along?
