Problem/Motivation

Plain Symfony Response objects returned from a custom controller are stored with expire=Cache::PERMANENT in the internal page cache regardless of Cache-Control directives. This is problematic for responses lacking any cacheability metadata (cache tags), since in that case a response stored in that way will never be invalidated.

Proposed resolution

Derive the expiry value for the cache object from Cache-Control header if a response lacks the X-Drupal-Cache-Tags header.

Appears the PageCache file has gone through some changes since this review was opened and I was not able to replicate. Can you see if it's still an issue with 9.5

Related issues: +#2527126: Only send X-Drupal-Cache-Tags and -Contexts headers when developer explicitly enables them

Yes, the code has change. The latest was in #2527126: Only send X-Drupal-Cache-Tags and -Contexts headers when developer explicitly enables them, which may have fixed this?

There has been no activity here for 7 years except to ask is this is still a problem. There hasn't been a response in 7 months to confirm that this is an issue. Therefore, I am closing as outdated.

If you are experiencing this problem on a supported version of Drupal reopen the issue, by setting the status to 'Active', and provide complete steps to reproduce the issue (starting from "Install Drupal core").
