I would like to have a welcome text on my page where I could have important imformation to my visitors. The way to do this in Drupal seems to be with a "sticky" on the main page.. The problem is that I don't want a date to be shown on this particular post. Is there a good way to remove it?

But drupal.org's bookpage did not have "date" and "author".
How can we make this?
Do I need to configure theme?

Oh, thanks :-) I didn't understand the point of the mission statement first so I removed it..
