Yeah for me it was because my from mail was on a different domain than the one setup with mailchimp. You can try upgrading to the latest 7.x-3-dev version, it has better error reporting.

@supermoos many thanks!
@CountPacMan, it was different (test) domain in MailChimp wich was not verified by MailChimp before I tried to create campaign on my site. After I verified mail address on MailChimp I created new campaign without any trouble.
I think the best solution is to make detailed error report in this case.
I'm closing this because we're going to be ending support for the 7.x-3.x branch due to the upcoming deprecation of the v2.0 MailChimp API.
I highly recommend upgrading to our current release, 7.x-4.5. This release uses the v3.0 MailChimp API, which handles errors in a much cleaner way, sending standard HTTP response codes and clear error messages.
We’re in maintenance-mode for the Drupal 7 releases of Mailchimp, so only bug fixes can be committed going forward. Any new features should be developed for the Drupal 8 releases of Mailchimp. Thanks!

trumanru CreditAttribution: trumanru commentedThe future task is a test of this situation in 7.x-4.x branch of this module to distinguish if it works with the new Mailchimp API.
