Doing the work for #2392669: Clean-up field module test members - ensure property definition and use of camelCase naming convention, @subhojit777 found a commented-out class method in FieldTest:

This was added during #2247991: [May 27] Move all module code from …/lib/Drupal/… to …/src/… for PSR-4.
What do we do? Kill it? Nurse it back to health?

berdir#2247991: [May 27] Move all module code from …/lib/Drupal/… to …/src/… for PSR-4 is not related to this, that just moved it, and git blame (at least by default) does then show that, you'd need to go back to a commit before that and do another blame to figure which issue is really responsible.

We are working to decide if this task is still relevant to a currently supported version of Drupal. There hasn't been any discussion here for over 8 years which suggests that this has either been implemented or is no longer relevant. Your thoughts on this will allow a decision to be made.
Since we need more information to move forward with this issue, the status is now Postponed (maintainer needs more info). If we don't receive additional information to help with the issue, it may be closed after three months.
