It appears to me that resolving #2326815: Git repository for Charts has errors preventing use is a prerequisite before moving on with transforming the RC1 version (as described in #2374185: Plans about current RC1 release of charts?) into what in the end should become #2382151: Charts 7.x-2.0 Release.

As a brand new maintainer of the charts module, I do NOT (repeat NOT) feel comfortable performing the (vague) suggestions as mentioned in #2326815: Git repository for Charts has errors preventing use. My problem is NOT that I don't know how the GIT command to rename a branch, query GIT or use the diff command. But rather how to decide about potential conflicts between the (ambiguous) HEAD branch versus RC1. And I doubt there is anybody with sufficient charts experiences who will take responsibility to just "delete the (renamed) HEAD branch" ... I might be willing to consider deleting that (renamed) branch, provided somebody can convince me that RC1 is what we should be moving forward with, and that worrying about the (renamed) HEAD branch is just a waste of time.

Hence my request as in the title of this issue, and the priority, and the related issues I added.

PS: could this be the "real" reason why all those 26K chart users have still not migrated to charts?
