I recently became a co-maintainer of the chart (not charts) module. Visit #2368793: Chart 2.0 for (a lot) more background info about it. Charts turns out to be the recommended module to migrate to for all those (+26K !!!) sites still using the currently depreciated chart module. According to the #19 comment in that issue, soon about 11.800 of these 26K sites seem to be switching from chart to charts. However, after digesting the existing open charts issues, I can't find any indication about what is still open/outstanding before the current RC1 version can become an official release. Is it possible to explain what kind of release blockers there are today, and eventually what a potential target date for an official new release looks like? Maybe also what kind of help (contribs) could be welcome to get such new release out of the door soon?

The only major blocking factor for the first final release of Charts is some troubling issues with the Views integration: #2233089: Parent style plugin check of the chart add-on display doesn't respect default

However that issue has a patch so perhaps with the right review we can get it out and have the final release.

The larger issue is merely a matter of time available. I took on the Charts module as a way to visualize data in the Webform module (see http://drupal.org/project/webform_charts). Unfortunately since then I've been very preoccupied establishing a future for my sites and clients through Backdrop and I'm not spending as much time on Drupal.org tending to all of my issue queues.

I'll coordinate with you on #2377647: Offering to maintain Charts. Since all that we really need in the Charts queue for release is people's time. If you're willing to spearhead it, then let's move forward. :)

Not sure if I correctly interpret the "spearhead" expression. I'm not native English ... anybody want to rephrase it using regular English, so that I don't need a dictionary? Hoping that my understanding of it is correct, I just created the new issue #2382151: Charts 7.x-2.0 Release ... Anybody wants to join that party (i.e. get that release out of the door)?
