There are some issues with the chart module as it relates to Contributed modules documentation:

  1. It is simply not included there (a module used in +25K sites ... how is that possible?). Done as per #1 below.
  2. The Read documentation link on the chart project page doesn't link to anywhere within drupal.org, which implies that drupal.org authorizations aren't sufficient for anybody interested in contributing to the community.

Open questions:

  • Does anyone know/remember what the reason was for putting the available wiki info outside of D.O? And if so do these reasons today still apply/make sense?
  • Who is authorized to update that existing wiki docu? And/or what does it take to get authorization to do so?
  • To avoid duplication of documentation effort, personally I'd "prefer" to MOVE that wiki docu to the Contributed modules documentation area (with links in the opposite direction of course). But for sure I don't want to do that with an appropriate approval from "somebody" (ideally some type of chart-users reprezentatives). If you're the somebody I'm looking for: please speak up by adding an appropriate comment to this issue about that.

Issue summary: View changes

Pleased to announce the progress on bullet 1: checkout the Chart Community docu "hook" I created ... Ready to start working on bullet 2 soon, by first adding the existing wiki link to this new community docu page, and then updating the chart project page to point to this new community page instead. As usual: anybody against that approach please speak up soon, same for related suggestions about it.

Disclaimer: note the STATUS of that new page ... it's 'waiting for George' right now ...

I just updated the new community page (adding the link there to the existing wiki link), and then modified 2 links on the chart project page to point to the community page from now on, i.e.:

  • the link to Read documentation.
  • the link to Look at screenshots.

Other links on the chart project page will be adapted as soon as the remaining 'wiki' pages have been cloned into their community docu counterparts. Anybody in a hurry to get that done also? Don't wait for me to continue working on the community docu ...
