i bet you're thinking "you sure your password and login name is correct?" yes, to make sure i tried logging in with ie and i was let in. "so use ie then" lol NO!!!! ie sucks!

"make sure firefox is allowed cookies" did that, still wont let me in

"are you getting any errors?" nope, like i said, in ie i can login with my username and password

"do you have any other drupal sites?" i do, and i can log into that one just fine in firefox

im stumped :(

have you tried to delete your cache? then have a look if the page loads, i am speculating that you're facing a white screen of death issue but the white screen is not being showed due to your browser's cache... if so, tell me to continue, if not, (zipped it...)
and hats off to you, ie truly sucks

yes i tried that ...... no im not getting "a white screen of death" :P i am getting the site, just cant login. i put in my username and pass and go nowhere

I have cleared all Cookies and the Cache of both drupal and my own browsers cache

I was just wondering if anyone had found a fix to this problem. Can login with ie but not firefox. And if you do figure it out, please tell us how or give us the link!

I have had similar problems, with other web software, both custom-built and out of the box, so to speak. It usually comes down to an oddity with the domain and cookies, using a sub-domain, or with having the software installed in a sub-directory, or something like that. That might now help, but the fact that it works in a dummy install but not in your main install, maybe? I'm not 100% sure, but that's what I have seen.

sorry, this was actually a different issue.

I'm also having the same problem, but with Drupal 6.6. Login does not work in Firefox 2, Safari, or IE 7. No error pops up, it just takes me back to the same login page. I also cleared my cache and turned off clean URLs. The user table in the database also looks fine.

what is the url?

Endless loop... login with valid user/pass... returned to login block. Was horribly afraid someone had hacked my site.

IE7 let me login just fine... so deleted the FF3 cookie for my website and I logged in just fine. A buddy of mine had reported a similar issue recently at my site.

Any ideas? I'm using the session cookie to persist preferences (for anon users)... so blasting it isn't a good option.

Thanks.

I and other users of my site just encountered this issue; no problem with Chrome or IE, but could not log in with Firefox. Happily, deleting the site cookies in Firefox cured it for me. Thanks for the tip, markallenneil!

FYI: As wanted to use firebug, I scratched my head for a while. After deleting all cookies in ffx, everything worked fine with it.

I deleted all cookies from the Drupal site (vandenzen.nl/drupal) in Firefox. Restarted Firefox. Does not help, same problem: access denied (or sometimes: the browser sent a request that the server does not understand, or something like that). Additional info: I run Firefox on an iMac. On my own account: no problem. On another account I cannot login on the Drupal site. I recently upgraded Drupal from 6.14 to 6.15, but I am not sure whether that triggered the problem. The other account normally doesn't login to our Drupal site.

Any suggestions? Any hints of how to debug this problem? Can I see what Firefox gets as an answer to its requests?

I have had a similar problem. Flushing firefox cookies for all time helped me.
