My use case is fundraising through sponsorship for an event/activity. I've searched through the profiles and distributions without success. The closest I have found which would be ideal is Systemseed's Concern for concern.net Featured showcase, http://drupal.org/node/1708372. Although there is some detail as how it is configured, it would have been easier to drush the profile. But, as the drush make files are probably in a private git repository, is there anything about that may fit my use case with the least amount of configuration?

That's a fairly common use case for drupal and what drupal.org itself does with drupalcons which generally use the http://drupal.org/project/cod distro. It's in alpha atm, but it's been making steady progress.
