I'm confused.
Can public files and private files not be used in the same drupal installation?
Depending on the content, I want to be able to choose the file upload should be private or public.
I created a content type: Gallery with file upload: Private.
I have also created a content type: Image with file upload: Public.
But when I chose Private local files served by Drupal in the file system, it looks like I can not upload to a public directory.
In Drupal 6 devolopment it seems like I can only use one of the methods.
But can it be true?

My problem is, that I have a lot of photos of private content and a lot more general public content. The general picture does not need the tedious (reed) process private photo needs. But maybe there are some solutions. I'll wait and see. Thanks for the reply.
