Hi, I have previously built a website using Prestashop - http://www.shreddersdirect.com.au . I am planning on building another website to sell fridges. Does anyone know any advantages to building it in Drupal, I hear the SEO is better and it's easier to add guest blogs and would like an alternative to Prestashop which is time consuming to update.

I am looking at oe of the websites already built using Drupal and I think the quality is excellent. Also, I m looking to outsource this drupal work, so if you have any recommendations please let me know.

Thanks, Peter

I have not used Prestashop, but a key advantage of Drupal is that, being a framework, it will give you the flexibility of changing the site to meet your needs, especially as your business changes.

If you haven't already seen it, take a look at Commerce Kickstart for an example of what can be achieved with Drupal. The creators, Commerce Guys, have done quite a bit of usability testing to simplify the product creation/editing process.

Have a look at the Services page for possible development companies to do this for you (sorry I can't recommend one as I develop my own sites).

Hope that helps
JK

I also do not know Prestashop, but I lost a bid to it because of the very low price the Prestashop developer offered. It seems to be a good solution for small/mid size commerce projects.

Drupal is more of a powerful platform which allows to build great commerce sites as well. Integration of website content with store content is one of the best I've ever seen anywhere, updates are relatively easy. Drupalcommerce (the module) relies a lot to other powerful modules, so it's relatively small in size (a few 100 kB). So if you expect customization, Drupal is clearly one of the best tools, but when it comes to 0815 shops, other solutions faster in producing results.
