My forum topic content type does not work because there is no option to choose a category/forum. Any ideas why this is missing? Please help. Thanks.

Is the drop-down menu "Forums:" completely missing, or is it just greyed out and inaccessible?

If it's totally missing, I'm not sure what to say.

If it's there but you can't activate it, I'll suggest two things to check. First, if you haven't already, create a Forum or two (and Containers if you like) to put Topics in. This is done from Admin > Content management > Forums > Add forum.

Secondly, do you have Taxonomy Access Control (or similar) installed? Forums are a vocabulary and each Forum you create is a term within the Forum vocabulary. By default, TAC does not grant access to terms so if you've not explicitly given appropriate permission through TAC you will not be able to post to any forums.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the response. I have already created several Containers and Forums. The drop-down menu to select a forum is completely missing.

Sorry, if it's not an Access Control issue, I'm not sure why it would be hidden/missing.

I have been trying to get rid of the Private Module. I deleted the module but I don't know what tables to delete in MySQL. Any suggestions. I installed a different forum module but noone can access it at all.
