This should possibly be a feature request, but posting it here first to get some feedback on the idea. It is initially about Drupal.org, but generally useful I would think.

It would be practical if there was a way of saying "ok, thanks" or similar feedback WITHOUT that remark being regarded (and syndicated) as new or updated content.

This will help save time and unnecessary page loads I assume.
Such a feature should be as generic as possible, so it could for example be present above the body text of an edit form (comments/issue follow-ups) as a button that reads "silent" or something like it, meaning that it would go silently into the thread and not take part in notifications or show up in the recent posts as "new" either.

Thoughts, anyone?
