I had several drupal installations on my server (actually, a friend's server). Everything was working fine until we updated our PHP from Perl 4 to Perl 5. Now, when a user logs in, the session appears to expire almost immediately. For example, when I log in, I try to get to the admin panel, and I get an error that I'm not permitted and I'm no longer logged in.
The only thing that has changed on the server is the upgrade to Perl 5. Now we need Perl 5 for other projects, so downgrading isn't an option.
What can I do to fix the problem?

Same behaviour here
Our little server got upgraded (out of my control completely) and I get exactly the same behaviour. Tried the solution to something similar as listed here: http://drupal.org/node/88716 but it didn't help.

Didn't work here either...
I tried all of those solutions as well, and it didn't help either. I know it's a PHP4->php5 issue. The database never changed, nothing else changed. So there's gotta be something somewhere that I need to tweak. Maybe it's a configuration issue. Maybe it's something that the system automatically changes as it installs. Whatever it is, I really gotta pinpoint that. I have too many sites depending on this working.
