I know this is stupid but I can't find out how to turn on this feature. I have been through Configuration and Content Types and just can't find the switch to have the submitted by name be a link.

I am using the zen theme.

Are you saying you only see the user name as text and not a link even when logged in as admin?

If so, I would look at the settings for the theme.

If only for other users you need to grant permission for others to view the users account.

You might also look under the "Manage display" tab for the content type and check the formatter.
