hi

could anybody try to help me out on this one?

i have my blog online in a dir on my document root (/myblog/), good thing.
i make on a dayly basis baclkups of the database, good thing
i copy them off-site automatically, good thing
i even test the integrity of the database dump file every now and then, paranoid but good Only local images are allowed.
i am using the polder theme

i did have some propblems migrating towards the latest 4.0, so i thought, i am going to day it neat this time. downloaded the 4.1.0rc1. created a database2, loaded a dump of the live database in the database2. edited the configutration file to use the database2 file and pointed my browser towards the update.php

all went fine, *no* errors. pointed the browser towards the /myblog2 dir and... nothing. empty page just html open, head open, and closing tags. nothing in the error or access log...? strange

a good thing i used a fake database and dir tree... ?

oops, point my browser to teh live /myblog/ and... also empty?

how is this possible? i mean, why did the original dir strucure/database change? probably an error my site of the keyboard but still i would like to get some help

i know this is not enough info for people to help me, but please ask the right questions and i'll try to give the right answer...

any help highly appriciated...

so, the document root of myblog was untouched, i droped the database, loaded a day old database. no errors. went to http://willy.boerland.com/myblog/ and saw that there are still problems? note that the content of the /myblog was never altered and i loaded a good database?

going for example to http://willy.boerland.com/myblog/node.php?id=1 gives "fatal error: Call to undefined function: node_load() in /var/www/html/myblog/node.php on line 54"

i quess the only solution is to dowload drupal 4.0 again and put this on the /myblog/ edit the config files etc..?

any thoughts?

maybe i did overwrite the myblog dir somewhere/how... cause when i log in and select the polder theme (used to be my default theme) i get the blank page with just an open html/head and closing tag.

i might have to start all over again with a clean directory and no modules or does anyone else have some tips...?

The function node_load() is part of the file called node.module. Check whether that file is present and whether it is intact. If so, then somehow the file is not being loaded. Presumably something went wrong when updating your system table (the former modules table?). Inspect your system table using this SQL query: mysql> select name, filename, status from system where type = 'module';Is there a row for the node module like the one below?

  +------+---------------------+--------+
  | name | filename | status |
  +------+---------------------+--------+
  | node | modules/node.module | 1 |
  +------+---------------------+--------+

Also, did you try accessing your administration pages? It might be as simple as enabling your node module ...

hi

i found an old tar file for the /myblog/ and reinstalled that and imported the database. it is solved and i am running 4.0 now again

i did went to the admin.php but found a realy basic meu (3 menu choices)

anyway, i will try again next time and will write some stuff on how to be prepared *before* upgarding

basically:
tar -cvf dir /somewherelse/backup
mysql -u user -ppassword dump database

it would be nice of the upgrade.php had an option to undo all the changes via a webinterface

anyoen wants to write downgrade.php ? Only local images are allowed.

Apparently upgrading disabled all your modules which is why your site looked empty, why node_load() could not be found, and why the admin pages were only "really basic" (as you put it). Did you try to enable the modules from the admin page? That should have fixed all problems.

thanks. no i didnt try to enable the modules from the admin menu. i wil do this next time... probably in a day or two

what about the "downgrade.php" script idea?
