Hi, I am running CAMP 1.3.20 (Apache 1.3.20 standard modules with DLL support, Apache 1.3.20 proxy module, PHP 4.0.6 module, including build-in support for mysql 3.23.32) and mysqld-nt.exe (outside of Cygwin).
When I try to hit http://localhost/drupal/index.php. I get the following error:
Warning: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2) in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/drupal/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 7
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)
I saw a few posts relating to this, but I don't have a mysql.sock file anywhere, so I'm not sure how to proceed.

Check my.cnf
This isn't a Drupal problem, it's a MySQL problem. Really. Go check the MySQL forums for more help as I know there is a LARGE user base of individuals running MySQL under Cygwin. For starters, though, you probably want to re-check your [/usr/local]/etc/my.cnf file. Typically you'll want MySQL directives in that file such as:
Hope that helps you get started down the path of troubleshooting.

The important thing here is the socket path
Incase I didn't make this clear previously (because I posted when I should have been sleeping, lol):
When reading the above configuration suggestion, make sure to keep in mind that the important thing is making sure your MySQL socket is properly configured.
Because you can tell the MySQL applications to use a different socket than the server, it's important to make sure you've got the right configuration in my.cnf.
This error I've had...
In my case it was $db_url in conf.php that was misconfigured. Just check that as well
I won't say that is your problem as well, but once I fixed mine, my site worked
