I checked the tutorial on news feeds, but the key piece I need isn't there: how to import news feeds.

Can someone please give me a few hints on how this works? In particular, if there is a technique for importing Amphetadesk or Userland feed information, that would be a help.

I can tell you how to import feeds one at a time. I haven't used Amphetadesk but I do import Radio Userland feeds.

I assume you have found "add new feed" in the "news feeds" section after clicking on "administer your site".

Most every feed I find is found by locating the orange "XML" button on a Radio Userland site. When you click on that button you are taken to the URL (the thing that shows up in your "Address" field in your browser) of the feed. Just copy and paste the URL to the "URL" box on the "add new feed" page and hit submit.
