In the menu module there's a translation of "hyphens" to "Unterstriche" which is "underscores" really. It should be "Bindestriche". Unfortunately this is very confusing as you're only allowed to use hyphens (and no underscores) for the menu name and if you do so anyway there's a correctly translated message telling you, well, that you can only use hyphens ("Bindestriche").
