please don't post in spanish - there are many people here who don't speak that language. they may be able to help you, though.
drupal's current process of managing translations is far from being perfect - see the thread starting here for discussion (and search the mailing list for more. "spanish", for example ...). the currently suggested way for sharing translations is to upload a sql dump of the 'locales' table to the translations dir of the contributions cvs repository. there is even a spanish (es_AR.sql) translation.
please don't manage your translations on your own site - this way you waste time and get 10 half-complete spanish versions. discuss (on the mailing list) and suggest better ways to centrally manage translations. the drupal guys will gladly support anything into this direction.

Basically, I agree with your post, but I think you would be amazed at how many spanish people understand written english very well but they're not confident enough to write a post in english.

I think it's not that bad if we post in Spanish as long as we manage to put together a file and upload it to the repository, is it?
So, translating my previous post, it reads like 'I found this file'.
But I tried it and I think it's not complete but anyway, I'm just started with Drupal. I will try the argentine translation -thx-...

if you are working with / improve any of the existing spanish language files - ie. upload it to the contributions repository / send it to the mailing list (don't forget to include some notes about author / url / version etc. into the sql comments). it would be also nice if you could encourage other people working on spanish translations to do the same. and, again: you are very welcome to suggest / implement anything to make the maintenance of drupal translations easier to handle. see [drupal-devel] locale enhancements - sharing translations via SQL export and XML-RPC for an example.
and don't be shy to post in english (i didn't have the impression that spanish people are shy ;)). you only get more confident if you exercise.

Spanish translation project
I've started this page a few weeks ago to try to get a full translation to spanish (Drupal 4.3).
I'm also developing a new module to set up a collaborative translation system, you can take a look...
Right now, it's still alfa -and fixing some problems with the (free) webhosting- but I will be uploading the translations to the repository.

Status of Spanish Translation Project
We want to help translate. We're waiting to receive a password from drupal.webcindario.com to checkout what is inside the site.
A few questions in the meantime: How many people have signed up or are actively translating for spanish? Is webcindario the decided communications point to discuss the spanish translation project? Is there a place on drupal.org that could be used alternatively to a new site to run the dialogue and manage the process to keep things simplified?
In total, how will this work - something along the lines of each contributor will be assigned a section to translate, then after translating, each will dump their part in the CVS repository, then someone will combine each part to make the whole?

Up to date, 10 people have signed up. No, not actively translating yet - just debugging the translation.module- but you can try it -sorry about the password delay...
Whether it is or not the decided communications point... I am not sure what you mean... it's just a 'point' I've set up cause I found no other one...
But I'm running into a lot of trouble, and also had to severely trim down the site, due to limitations of this free webhosting -so I'm looking for a better one ...
For now, the proccess is as follows:
- You chose an untranslated locale.
- You translate it -the translation will be put in queue using the node system, waiting for aproval.
- When translation is approved, it is automatically added to the locales table.
- From time to time, new translations will be added to Drupal repository, but registered users will be able to get an export of the locales table anytime.

Spanish Translation?
I have a few volunteers who will translate whatever is remaining for 4.3 into Spanish, including administration and help pages. First, I want to be sure this has not already been done. I've noticed es_ES.sql and es_AR.sql have not changed for a few months - both are incomplete. If anyone has a more compete translation they are willing to share, please let me know here. Otherwise, we'll continue with one of the above. When our volunteers are finished translating, we'll deposit the completed sql at cvs.drupal.org. Just wanted to make a last-call before we embark.

It seems that there is a coor
It seems that there is a coordination effort of the Spanish-Spain version of Drupal at http://drupal.badopi.org/.
On the other side jareyero (who posted above) is having another set of translations that he is willing to integrate: http://drupal.badopi.org/node/view/17.
And finally we are also interested having a Drupal fully translated into Spanish since we are moving from Geeklog to Drupal and there are some projects pending o be approved (or not) that are based on Drupal and will need to have fully localized installations, so we may help also with the translation efforts: http://kernel.interactors.coop/forum/viewtopic.php?forum=1&showtopic=2450.
Again, it seems that a core problem in localization / internationalization is dialog and coordination between very diverse people and bodies (wich makes sense considering the subject but it's a problem we must overcome). :)
