In studying a media module test failure (7.x-2.x-dev), I saw that media was being loaded twice. It turned out that a dependency was file_entity. file_entity was part of media in 7.x-1.x, but became its own project in 7.x-2.x. So the search was legitimately finding media as an external dependency (but in the wrong branch).

The only think I know to do about this right now is to check the list of dependencies we get and make sure that none of them is this module.
