Would it be possible to make Filefield Sources make a call for an Image attached to an Image node; so in other words, you select the node but Filefield Sources loads the image attached to it.
This would be great in all kinds of situations. For example, if you have hundreds of images on your server it can take a while before you find the image (assuming they have filenames which correctly describe them, not "Image2314" or something like that). However, if these were Image nodes, you could easily create galleries and group them using taxonomy.
Come to think of it, this would be very usable on all file types.
