Configuring the DEIMS Theme
Working with your DEIMS Theme.
DEIMS theme is a subtheme of the Adaptive contrib. theme. Specifically, it is an adaptation of the Pixture Reloaded contrib. theme, which is a subtheme of Adaptive.
DEIMS theme choice is integrated with the Color module, which allows you to tweak the color palette for all user sections of your site. In addition, it comes with the noggin and superfish modules, which will enable you to replace front-page banner images, as well as deploy your fancy menu.
The FlexSlider is is a part of DEIMS profile, but not integrated in the DEIMS theme. This contrib module and related library is not enabled by default, however it is installed and ready. You will see some documentation or examples in our pages. The FlexSlider is a module that allows you to construct an awesome responsive carrousel of slides.
The main reason DEIMS is packed with this theme choice is to empower the DEIMS adopters with the look-n-feel design tasks. By default, DEIMS adopters receive a bare bones website (in terms of beauty) with a manageable customization and adaptation techniques. While the DEIMS Theme is not trivial, it offers a superb adaptive, and sometimes responsive qualities to your site. This means your DEIMS site is mobile ready out of the box.
The question is, how to we tweak the DEIMS theme to meet our own designs and ideas? First, you, as an admin of your DEIMS site, should visit the “Settings” page at “Appearance -> Settings -> Deims Theme” (URL path is admin/appearance/settings/deims_theme). Experiment with that interface - fonts, rounded corners, tablet layouts, icons, etc. It is loaded with configurable settings. However, you may still want to read about the documentation. About everything you can do is explained well in the Pixture Reloaded and Adaptive theme documentation pages -- We did not write the book on the Adaptive theme, not even contributed to it. A shout here for the main developer, Jeff Burnz, who lead the Adaptive and Pixture Reloaded teams.
