sunNot sure whether this proposal makes sense. I'd agree that, with preprocessing enabled, it shouldn't matter how many CSS files we split things up into, and thus, we'd ideally split all current groups into individual files, so as to allow a theme to override a particular set of styles only.

jacineI'd like to see how far people are willing to go with splitting up the files. Personally, I don't like having all these files. I would ultimately like these files to go away in favor of system.theme.css, but if they are going to stay this change makes sense. The tab/pager styles in system.css have been bugging me for a while, and system-navigation.css seems more complete and accurate to me.

jacineI don't think this is going to happen for 7.x. Also, upon thinking about this a little more, once we are able to implement the changes @sun proposed in #777814: Allow modules to provide styles for themes (finally leverage structure/behavior split of CSS files), I don't think we'll need this or system-messages.css as a separate file so I'm going to mark this 8.x. :(

jhedstromI think this refactoring already happened in one way or another in 8.0.x.
