I backed up my drupal installation from the host ( installed using Fantastico) and downloaded to my linux box running FC6.
Then, I backup up and downloaded the database.
I unpacked on the local machine and all the files are in there right places.
The problem is I am having trouble setting up the mySQL path (db_url) on my local machine.
Is there anyone working on making MS SQL server avialable as a Drupal DB? I understand Drupal has some DB abstraction layer to allow new/different DB servers to be used.
My admin here is ok with Drupal but hopes to use MS SQL as it would be a single place to administer. Would anyone contract to do this? And then give it back to the community?
If one does need to run MS SQL and MySQL - how bad is that on server performance? Or how common is this 2DB server scenario?
Is it possible to use ASCII encoding with Drupal?
My ISP does not supply Unicode.
Do I have to change ISP or can I run Drupal on ASCII encoding?
What problems will occur?
