Changing what shows in the categories block

Ok I'm running version 4.5.2 and trying to finish configuring my site. I've been playing with drupal on and off for a while and just can't get this figured out.

So, to explain my situation. I'm using the Images module to have image gallaries. Now I only want these to show up in the image galleries as there's alot of photos and I don't want them on the main page, or in the "categories" block, that's what I have the "Image Galleries" block for. No matter what I do I can't seem to re-organize the content in the categories block either. Is there a way to do that?

Snippet for checking to see if the Drupal database is okay before loading site?

Hi Guys,

Quick question for any mysql Drupal gurus out there...

Sometimes, sites, especially on a shared server go offline for a few minutes..e.g. if the mysql connection might go down.

Is there a php snippet I can add into my index.php that does a quick check on the database connection, before loading the site?

For example:

Customizing comments

This is a simple one. I want to introduce two types of comments (one for debate, another for editing notes), with different themes for each type and a filtering option. Users shall be able to select the respective type using a radio button or somesuch. Ideally, it would not be possible to anwer with a debate comment on an editing comment, but vice versa.

Has anyone done such a thing? How would you go on about doing it? Forms API? Hacking the comment.module? Thank you for giving a hint!

Drupal in Ireland???

Hey,

I'm drupal developer just looking for expressions of interest in an Irish Drupal event.

What would you like to see - a casual meeting to discuss implimentations or a proper conference?

Would people travel to Dublin if it were a conference?

As I say just testin the water to see if there's an interest in building an off line community.

Host Transferring

I'm fairly new to the CMS scene so please bare with me. I'm a little stuck. I'm moving a site that has been on drupal now for quite a while to another host. I want all the content to remain the same, I just want to transfer everything.

I copied the entire web directory over to the new host
exported the database off the old, imported onto the new
went through the config files and changed everything to the new database usernames and passwords

Drupair helps you with archvies and patches to 4.5.8 and 4.6.6

With some delay I updated Drupair at http://drupair.flevour.net to provide patches and archives to the latest 4.5.* and 4.6.* versions.
Use it and spread the word!
