Drupal 4.5.x or older

I've got an odd problem. I'm updating from an old 4.5.8 installation to 5.0 and many posts that included "curly quotes" and other non-standard characters are coming out with garbage in the new displays. I know I solved this same problem in 4.5.8 but for the life of me, I can't remember what I did! This involves almost 3000 posts, some of them in excess of 64k words, so it is a large problem.

Any help out there?

I need an open source software used to build hierarchic lists that I can export as an html files and reuse in order to manage the content of a eportfolio (presentation).

I need to Show the static Contents such as About Us or Introduction in the Front Page so that the Title Introduction comes at the top and the contents written inside this introduction comes thereafter. I do not know how to do that. By Creating Taxonomy Block, it Show the content Topic in nodes only.

Can Anyone plz help me out for this.

You come across a "advanced options" when you run the install.php, what is the advanced options?

I didn't click it, but does anyone know what it is and and what "advanced options" it offers?

I tested it, that if I just change the setting file manually myself (the 4.7.x way) then once I press install the site is complete nice and ready, without asking you to input the database name + username into the screen. Thats because I've already done that manually myself prior to running install.

Is it ok to take this approach or does it have to be the new 5.0 way?
