Module development and code questions

Hi folks,

I'm working on putting the efforts of Directi at http://www.ip-to-country.com/ into a proper drupal module; so far the intention is to store the country data in a session after first load (thus avoiding repetitive queries, as the ip-to-country queries are fairly expensive), and provide an object stored in a session providing the country's name, code, and a link to the country's flag to enable integration of the information in a theme.

All my modules are currently listed as CVS, how do I create a 4.3 branch of a module?

I'm using CVL as a GUI to control CVS on Mac OS X, and have tagged all my module files with DRUPAL-4-3-0, but it is not showing a 4.3 relese on the Project module pages.

Is there something more I need to do, or do the Project module take time to refresh with new branch releases?

The modules I need to update are "Legal" and "Navigation Table".

Is there a mod for this already, or a clean systematic way to add Jabber ID to the profile page? I know it would easy enough to do myself - I just want to make sure I'm not hacking when I can be using the system the way it was meant to be.

I would prefer not having a time for events posted. Is there a way to remove the time?

FYI, the time is posting 6 more hours than the time I set during the creation of the event. That isn't the reason I want to remove the time, but I wondered why that is happening? Has it something to do with my time zone being different than my host provider?

I'm not entirely happy with the forum module for 4.2 and I can't get tripforum to work at all. What I'm after is something more like cyboard or superBB (The latter based on cyboards and ported to postnuke. However, no longer being developed) which is what my users are accustomed to and demand in style and usability.
