Module development and code questions

Is it possible to modify the $node object from within the hook_nodeapi validate case? I have a module that i is trying to adjust the $node->uid, but setting the uid does not get passed to other modules in the validation queue. Surely this is possible?

I'm planning to make a node that will allow a user to choose some settings from a few different form elements, press submit, and based on those settings, the node will generate an image with some text using the PHP image functions. (A small preview first would be even better, with the final version being saved with the node.)

I thought of using CCK for the form handling because if it works, I'm going to want to add more settings (more form elements) and so I thought that would be the easiest way to go.

Has anyone had any luck getting the activeselect module integrated with the views module, especially on exposed category filters?

eg: I have Two containers: Country and City.

I have set them up such that, on node forms, when a specific Country is selected, its corresponding cities populate the City dropdown box below it.

However, how do I make a view which includes this activeselect functionality as well?
