Module development and code questions

I'm trying to get a block that contains the page authoring info to display when I am logged in AND when I am logged out. I can currently see it only when I am logged in.

I'm making a javascript apt, that would use the drupal user name as part of its functioning. Anyone know how I could get the name? I thought about making an AJAX like callback, but that always gives me a webpage (thats the short of it). I can hack this method working, I'm sure.

But, is there a real way of getting the user name? Is it possible to get it from the cookie?

I am looking for a block wich can show thee three last images uploads with a little text below.
Like the Menu_image, but I need it dinamic (he refresh himself with the three last images) and with a little text.
Does it exist?
It is for a young artists community in the States.

Hi There, Im just trying to use the form_alter hook, but not having much luck.
What Im trying to do is add a new option in the user settings page, to allow a user agreement to be specified...

At this stage, I have this code, but nothing will come up within the user settings admin page...

I have the private messenger module installed, and the actions module.
I would like to know whether it is possible to trigger a private message (not an e-mail)when a comment is posted to a users node.

I do not want an e-mail as I use drupal on a local intranet and have no mail server.

please provide the help.
i have used both taxonomymenu module and pathauto.
i have configured both correctly.
path auto is generating the urlalias for all.but it is not generating the alias for taxonomymenu.
