Theme development

Sorry if this question is answered somewhere on the drupal.org but I can't find any information on my problem.

I use this function to override a View field but the link generated is not what I'm looking for. I also use the URL aliases and this code refers to the path like http://mydomain.tld/node/65, I'd like it to refer to a path like http://mydomain.tld/node/mycustompath

I have CVS-write access, however I have no idea how to use it. I have gotten no help on the drupal or drupal-support irc forums, so I am posting the file here in hopes that someone will add it to the CVS repository.

I am working on a site design for 5.0 (would also be an issue for 4.x) in which i have a top border (css style) on the 'page title' and 'node title' divs. I have a couple of unresolved issues - most of which could be resolved with php??? [i can edit basic php, but not much more knowledge above that]

Im in the process converting my site to drupal 5.0.
Drupal is perfect in all manners to control the community and articles :-)

However I have a galleri, which need to follow in drupal as well. Not necesarily in the same form, but need following as minimal

1) Image upload
2) fixed required information fields from users when uploading the car (size, hp, weight etc..)
3) adding comments

I am totally new to Drupal and to CMS for that matter, so please pardon my ignorance. I can't seem to find out how to have different templates inside a theme. How do I have different layout templates for different pages in the site? I kind of understand how to change page.tpl.php but can I have something like "page2.tpl.php" or does it work differently?

Im using niftycorners theme and it just wont show my logo no matter how many times I upload it. It also didnt work with the other original themes when I tried. Any ideas?
