We launched the new PavichforCongress.com a little while back and I thought people on this site might want to have a look at it.
It's for John Pavich who's running for Congress in IL-11. It's based on the CivicSpace 0.8.2 distribution (thanks Kieran & Co.) with a couple of extra modules thrown in (feedback, sidecontent, taxonomy_defaults, etc.) I made free use of page snippets for customization on the home page (thanks Dublin Drupaller, et al).
The whole purpose of the design was to think about the requirements of the Campaign, how those requirements could best be implemented on the web and then -- and only then -- how the CMS could be bent and twisted to achieve our purposes.
The Website has four different kinds of content -- Press Releases, Media Quotes, Blog Entries and Events -- which can be assigned to separate roles. We wanted this material up and out there in about as prominent and dynamic a way possible while still requiring only average computer skills to add and maintain content.
There still are a number of things I have to do. The CSS is overly complicated and what I'll probably end up doing is completely redoing the entire Theme from the ground up. There's a whole bunch of other tweaks I have to do but the main work is complete. Took me about two month to complete. Oh-la!
