Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Navigation menu

I've today installed drupal on my home machine and am using the theme xtemplate. I'm struggling as to how to create a decent navigation menu.

My ideal solution would be to have a horizontal menu of vocabulary terms across the top header, where the 'Primary links' space is. When a vocab term is clicked, a new page will load showing all the terms for that particulary vocabulary as links and some sort of section specific text.

I need permission to change the date on new stories.

I have installed 4.4 from cpanel/fantastico. I am very happy with it so far but I need to move some data from a PHPNuke site. I would like to be able to post-date these stories but I am having trouble.

I am logged in as the "admin" user. It was created via fantastico so I am wondering if this is part of the issue. I can do all other administrator functions but when posting a new story I can't change the date field.

I am willing to post date them by going right into the database but I don't know what format the date is stored in.

Emailing Comments for spam control purposes?

How can I have all comments made on my drupal site delivered to my via email?

The username contains an illegal character.

Whick characters can be used for username in drupal? When i tried to write a turkish name like "Suat Gültepe" for registration it gives "The username contains an illegal character" error. Is it possible to use UTF-8 for usernames? Thank you.

Adding Custom Fields for Stories.

I am thinking of using Drupal to power a website that will mainly contain a directory of addons for a product.

Each addon will have some features such as:

1) Author
2) Version Number
3) URL
and
4) Date created

for example.

I would love to create new fields, like the existing
a) Title
b) Body
c) Authored by

etc, to reflect these additional fields that belong to each "Story" which will describe an addon.

How do you make the search engine find content...

...that has already been placed on the site? We're using Drupal 4.4.2.

We've already added pages and stories to the site, but when we search on obvious keywords, the search results are showing no results.

Thanks in advance for your help!
