Post installation

This is a theme problem..... but could be a possible problem for content too.

Ive got problems with any pictures/logos etc (stuff that is referenced like http://www.mysite.org/themes/bluemarine/style.css) with my install. They will not display, the files are there but when I try and access them directly all i see is an error about permissions. hence why they have not been found by the page load.

Trying to increase the file permissions will not work! i.e. will not make a difference.

1) what menu does the firefox site use? it's different than the spread firefox theme.

2) what menu / theme does this site use?

3) the built in forum is grey and bland. what do you have to do to make it look like this forum?

I've had my site going for a couple of months now and had cron working properly every hour and recorded faithfully every hour in the watchdog section. For some reason cron has now stopped executing automagically. I know cron.php works as I can execute it from the browser and get the cron completed message in the logs. I just want to check that nothing about the functioning of cron has changed between 4.5.2 and 4.6.3 before spending money phoning my host to try and troubleshoot from that end (I've already tried by email and was told "What time of the day is 55 * * * *?

sorry if this post would be better in another section. Please advise.

While surfing through a growing site, I found it was difficult to
edit / change texts or items, I found or disliked.

As an admin or moderator, I would love to have a "button" or
an icon joint to the modules or nodes output, that lets me
open the edit form directly.

HOW TO QUESTION

Where would coding best be done: in templates, in core, in modules ... ?
