Post installation

When I create content the option "Promoted to Front Page" is always checked by default.

How can I change this so it's UNCHECKED by default?

Just set up a site and created a test page. How do I assign category/taxonamy to a page. I have set up Vocabulary and read the instructions which state that you select the category from a drop down menu but I don't get a drop down menu when creating a page. I appear to have installed a stupidity module and can't see what I am doing wrong.

How do I make the right block column more narrow? I am using the Lincoln's Revenge theme and would like the right block column to be more narrow....almost like the left block column.

Can anyone help me?

I am using Drupal 4.6.3 and installed "simple access" module. I am having problem with the attached files that belong to a particular content node. Let's say if I made a content node viewable only by a group (but not by a guest user), I still see the attached files of that node globally viewable including guests via the absolute URLs (.../files/filexxx). How could I enforce the attachments having the same permission as the content node itself?

Is it possible to have something email my community in the morning with the ten most recent posts to the site? I'm very new to Drupal.

I'm quite confused about internationalization.

I run drupal 4.5.0 and I installed internationalization. It's a very good module, and about dscussions here I personally think that multilanguage support is a must for many developers.

At least it is for me.

I'd like to know if somebody could handle menu translations with 4.5.0
the workarounds I saw in the forum are all about 4.6 (they use block visibility)

Any suggestions how can I handle a multilanguage site with 4.5?
