Post installation

I have a complicated problem concerning multiple sites using a single drupal installation.

Drupal is installed at www.mydomain.com.

.htaccess is set up with

RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]

(the rewrite base is commented out).

The default site works fine.
I want the second site to be located at www.mydomain.com/directory/

In my site all content stors as microsoft word (.doc) files. I like to attach thos files to each node. Its not to difficalt using the upload file system. The question in how to dispay the file content within the node.

So, I'm creating a new node type module and it seemed to be working ok. When I post a test node as admin it works fine, but I logged in as a user and posted a test node and all my content disappeared! Now only admin can see any of the content I had in there and the users all see nothing! What is going on?
This was also the problem I had with flexinode... the same exact thing. I disabled the module and everything came back. Can anybody help?

I'm looking for an extention of node module so each node (of certion type) can be attached and displays its oun gallery. A node shold have 5 to 10 picturs attached and shuld dispays them as thumbnails thab can be enlarge.

I love the flexnode module, but where do I change the formatting it uses when displaying a story?

For example, I have added another field in the flexinode called author, which may be a different person than the author that submitted the article.

Presently, it is displayed like:

Author:
XXXXXXX

I would like to change this to something like:

By XXXXXXXXXX

But I can't find the file that contains this.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have installed drupal successfully with the latest Apache, PhP 5.0.5 and latest 4.3 mysql version. I have fixed most of the bugs to get the drupal installation working.

But I am getting into a new configuration issue.

I tried adding a few pages with content. But whenever i add a new page that page becomes my home page. I dont want my homepage to change. If some one guide me/help me that will be great

this is what i want to do

1. home page which will not change anytime.
2. Navigation menu will have links to additional pages i create
