Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Which method is best?

If i want to set up a typical section, category, pages structure AND have that fully expanded/represented in a tree-like menu, viewable on EVERY page...what is the best way of doing this?

how do I tell drupal to use a different theme?

I am using drupal 4.6.5 and php5.1.

Drupal will not load correctly. As I understand it, this is a well known bug.

I have read that I need to change the theme engine from xtemplate, to phpthemplate.

I download, and extracted phptemplate, and box_grey, and put them in the themes/engine directory.

So how do I get drupal to use a differenct theme/engine, when I can't even get drupal to work?

Group posts in a section?

Hi all:

So here's the scenario: the Organization has several Committees, and I want each Committee to be able to post the various forms of available content to their own Section. So I'd have mydomain.com/committees/health and I'd like to see a) an intro description of that committee, and b) all posts below it.

Civicspace/Drupal: [Publish v. Promote v. Approve] [Node v. Comments] [Moderation v. Submission] queue confusion

I've used basic Drupal features for a while, but now on a fresh install of the CivicSpace distro, I'm trying to figure out "moderation" for the first time. And I'm throughly baffled. Hope I can get some clear pointers here...

What is the relationship of the "submission queue" to "moderation"?

For Blog entries: workflow has a checkbox for "In moderation queue." I thought comments were "moderated" and other nodes were in the "submission queue."

Under Administer | Content | List, what is the difference between the drop-down options "Publish" & "Unpublish" vs. "Promote" & "Demote" vs. "Approve"? They all seem to simply change the status of a node from Published to Unpublished (or back). Except for "Demote," which does nothing at all.

I cannot get anything to show up in the submission queue no matter what I do. I have configured and configured and configured. I do have the default setting of "Promote to front page" disabled for all content types.

Users with comment moderation enabled see a "Moderate comments" button under a comment, but it just refreshes the page and does nothing else at all. Well, nothing unless I'm logged in as admin; then it just refreshes the page while adding this at the top:

    * User removed from "authenticated user" mailing list
    * User removed from "admin user" mailing list
    * User removed from "event organizer" mailing list

Disable the right sidebar entirely

My site only requires blocks in the left sidebar, so I have been trying unsuccessfully to disable the right sidebar entirely, as it is using valuable real-estate. I have a feeling this is more of a theme-related thing than a configuration question.
