I've used basic Drupal features for a while, but now on a fresh install of the CivicSpace distro, I'm trying to figure out "moderation" for the first time. And I'm throughly baffled. Hope I can get some clear pointers here...
What is the relationship of the "submission queue" to "moderation"?
For Blog entries: workflow has a checkbox for "In moderation queue." I thought comments were "moderated" and other nodes were in the "submission queue."
Under Administer | Content | List, what is the difference between the drop-down options "Publish" & "Unpublish" vs. "Promote" & "Demote" vs. "Approve"? They all seem to simply change the status of a node from Published to Unpublished (or back). Except for "Demote," which does nothing at all.
I cannot get anything to show up in the submission queue no matter what I do. I have configured and configured and configured. I do have the default setting of "Promote to front page" disabled for all content types.
Users with comment moderation enabled see a "Moderate comments" button under a comment, but it just refreshes the page and does nothing else at all. Well, nothing unless I'm logged in as admin; then it just refreshes the page while adding this at the top:
* User removed from "authenticated user" mailing list
* User removed from "admin user" mailing list
* User removed from "event organizer" mailing list
