Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Am I an idiot?

I've been posting for help with a problem for a few days now, and nobody replies so I've begun to wonder if my question is somehow idiotic, ignorant, or just plain unsolvable. The posts above and below me seem to get lots of attention, so, is it me?

Anyone want to chime in on my level of idiocy? I need to solve this problem, and I'd like to know if there is a better way of finding the help I so obviously need .....

here's my post from yesterday: http://drupal.org/node/48856

My account and Private message link position

How can I move the My Account and Private message link from there default position. I have a second menu, in which I want to place both of these. When I go to the menus section in the admin section for My Account in the list it just says 'locked' where the 'edit disable delete/reset' links usually are.

For the Private Message block, there is no entry at all in that section to be able to change which menu it is on.

Thanks in advance.

duplicating empty template site - is this possible? - what caveats exist?

Is it possible to gzip an entire empty site for installation elsewhere, once i have installed countless modules and configured core settings?

[ can I circumvent spending an entire day installing core modules up each time I start a domain? ... ]

I guess what I want to know is: are there domain specific data/settings inside a site that would prevent me from gzipping an empty site and then ungzipping it into another location later?

1) Is there domain specific information stored anywhere that would prevent this?

Path » To » Node?

Case study:

I want to make an e-magazine in a drupal site. The articles of this magazine are nodes with the type "page or news".

The magazine have three sections: News, Reportages, and Interviews. A vocabulary named "magazine" is created and its type is set to "page + news", and the terms (news, reportages, interviews) are created inside it.

Hierarchy of user roles

Hi guys!

How can I (if it's possible at all) to create a hierarchy of user roles in Drupal?

Our site should provide ability to people to register as an artist, group artists into groups, group groups into communities. Artist can be one group member, group can be one community member. Groups and communities membership should be moderated. Group and community can be private (e.g. not available for non-members) Artist should have public and private (for friends only) blog entries. Private access can be given for artist's group/community members.
