Notify

Hi
I have Drupal I am using 4.6.5, which I installed with Fantastico; have added Notify module, but it doensn't send out emails. I have made it active under 'modules'. Are there other settings somewhere to make it work? Do I have to set up a 'cron job'? I read something about this under the Notify module, but frankly it looked beyond me. But there's a thing for doing Cron under 'cPanel'. Can this be used? Can anyone tell me what to do please?
Cheers

Simplenews and spambots

I'm using the Simplenews newsletter module, and it looks like I'm getting spambots signing up to harvest my email address. This has happened five or six times now.

Addresses like: bcygh26[at]mail.ru and lle6ufk[at]gmail.com sign up for the confirmation email, but then don't confirm. The return email address I use is now getting hit by spam, where before there was very little.

Not sure if anything can be done about this (I assume this is a general newsletter hazard, not Simplenews specific), but I thought it should be documented.

curious error

Hello,

I've been seeing something interesting that I cannot explain. When one of my users posts content, a story or blog node, he gives off a

"gmdate(): Windows does not support dates prior to midnight (00:00:00), January 1, 1970"

error in my logs. What's curious is that it ONLY occurs for this partcular user and I have none of the event modules installed or calendar type stuff activated. Any idea what this is? I thought maybe it has to do with his system configuration, but I'm getting the error in my logs. Any suggestions are appreciated.

cheers,

Different Clean URLs

Is there a way Drupal can use a differerent permalink cover but keep the /node/nnn part too?

Sourceforge e-mail ( Revisited )

I found this http://drupal.org/node/40492 on the subject but there is no resolution. I am committed to Drupal but there is this last issue. New users don't receive e-mail. I have Sourceforge as a host. Maybe I should face the bad news: Drupal and Sourceforge don't go together?

Or... is there somewhere a solution anyway? If you know of any please post? Thanks in advance.
