Post installation

This may be a very basic question, but I am having trouble finding a solution.

Drupal 4.7
Remotely managed hosting (RoutHost)
Apache 1.3.34
PERL 5.8.0
PHP 4.4.1
MySQL 4.1.18

"Internal Server Error" reported when attempting to access the site. "Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request." error reported.

I have a 5/9/2006 CVS version of 4.7.0 and I was wondering if anyone has any idea when a "packaged release" might be available. There are truckloads of bug fixes that have been incorporated into 4.7 HEAD and I'd like to get on a release version with those fixes as soon as possible.

Does anyone have an idea when 4.7.1 might be available, or is there a way of figuring it out from the issues list?

I have the following dilemna:

All my postings are made NOT to be promoted to the front page. I have a simple front page where I provided links to couple of taxonomy terms that are related to my content.

As such, whenever I browsed to http://www.example.com/node, I will get the default Drupal first page:

I want to display content of a specific type (eg. story) belonging to a specific category (eg. Motion pictures). Is it possible with views module?
