Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Running two sites with the same Drupal install. Is it possible?

Hey,

Just curious if it's possible to run Drupal with two sites with the same install (obviously on the same server). And if so, how do I go about doing it?

Thanks!

Thoughts on establishing an drupal-powered Alumni site..

Hi!

I'm looking to setup a site for my High School Alumni Association. From looking through the forum and mailing list archives, it appears this is most definitely not a new topic, however many of these posts seem to be "how do I go about this?" versus some of the more technical aspects I'd like to solidify.

Part of my problem, although I know PHP and CSS/HTML, is that I also know and love assembly language and the low-level operations of computers, so trying to immerse myself in a high-level environment such as drupal leaves me trying to almost naturally trying to reinvent the wheel at every opportunity (which I know I shouldn't be, hence my post to this forum).

Anyway, I've been looking at Drupal for the past couple of weeks, and I've gone ahead and installed and have been configuring it to figure out how to pull this off. I installed version 4.7.0.. as well as several modules that seem to be compatible with my aims for an alumni site (the taxonomy / category / organic groups sort of stuff).

What I am asking you all, however, is advice/strategy for tackling the following:

My alumni association currently has an offline database (stored in an off-line DOS-based database program). I have played with various export formats from this database and I have been able to read it, so it shouldn't be that hard on my part to get it stored into a MySQL database.

The issue that comes to mind is the database itself. The database obviously contains alumni data-- graduation class year, name, address, etc. and part of what I need to rig up include the following functionalities:

creating a form

Hello all,

Starting using Drupal and I’m liking it! I looked at the boards but was not able to search my questions accurately. I was wondering how I can have users post a pre formatted page(a business plan) to my web site (name, address, business idea …etc). I guess I can create a type of form which will guide them and make them enter the info. But would this info be their profile? I just want the users to be able to post 1 plan and no other. They should be able to go and change the plan in the future.

What would be the methodology? How do I create a form like that?

Encrypt mysql password in settings.php?

Is there a way to encrypt the mysql account password in the $db_url of the settings.php?

While I know I can restrict read access to the file, I'd like also like something a bit more secure...

dumb question about content

Am having trouble posting content to a specific menu item . How do i post a story to a specific menu item . Also how do i ensure a story is posted to the top of the front page ? tom

image gallery, order images (image.module)

Problem: If I have 20 images in a gallery I'd like to be able to add an image to position 3 in the gallery. (the numbers are examples only)

Several people have posted similar comments and I understand image.gallery orders by date (last first). A poster has shown how to reverse the order.

I can't find anywhere where I can insert an image in an arbitrary position in the gallery.

What is the easiest way to achieve this.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Ashley
