Post installation

While upgrading my site to 4.7 I also installed the jstools module, but the menus wouldn't expand - they only displayed loading.

After some investigation I noticed that all pages on my site had to empty lines in the source before the actual HTML came (DOCTYPE etc.). Some more investigation led me to one of the modules I've made which had a couple of newlines after the closing php tag. Fixing this resolved the problem with the activemenus.

I have created a new node content type, called members.module, which is an exact clone of story.module (apart from the name internally).

How is it possible to add a new row in the 'access control' of my site, so that I can select who has access to pages created by members.module? At the moment, I can only say who can create and edit, not view/access.

Anybody knows how to publish the three most recent news on first page, then have a link underneath to newsarchive?? Because everytime you make a new news post, you can choose whether it should be published on front page or not... The thing I'm after is somewhat like the event module but I already have events to I don't think I can have another one?

So I've been using the quite good Subscriptions module, which says it's capable of allowing users to "subscribe to be notified of changes to ... new comments in specific forums." It's obvious to me how users can subscribe to be notified of new comments to a specific forum topic but I don't see a "notify me" link or the like when it comes to a specific forum. Anyone know if this is possible?

I have a 4.6 site set up to check the file table to see if there is an mp3 file attached to the current node, if there is a flash audio player is loaded into a block to play it.

I'm upgrading to 4.7 and want to streamline things a little by removing the extra database query, how do I make $files->filename available to the block?

Probably a silly question, but is it possible that drupal is part of my site in such a way that visitors don’t feel they have "left" my site?

By incorporating I mean such as having a regular forum integrated into a site, where the visitors know its a forum but they don't feel they have "left" the site.

I hope I am making sense.
