Drupal is up and running but how do I ...?

Is this a bug and if not, what could it be?

I am not too sure whether this is to be classified as a bug but it's caused major problems for me, a Drupal newbie. My requests for help http://drupal.org/node/86073 & http://drupal.org/node/86432 did not get any answers that helped solve it. (I am also not too sure whether this exactly the right place to write this, please excuse me)

This is how I initially descriped the problem at one of those links:
------------------
I am trying to put content on & edit my site for the last 2 - 3 weeks with no problem at all. The other day I was logged in as administrator & at one point, I noticed the changes I was saving were not taking effect!. I logged out but could not log in again, not even with my other alternative user names! Restarting the pc did not help.

Someone here suggested clearing cookies, I did but it did not help and may be this is not the problem because I also cannot log in on several diferent PCs where I know cookies are cleared on shutdown.
Another person suggested checking the database, which however looks intact.

The hosting co. guy of my free account said it could have something to do with my using more databases than I'm allowed after they changed the hosting plan & reduced them. But even after using 4 ot of the 4, now aftere deleting the 5th, still no change.

Actually after getting stuck for too long, I decided to delete drupal & start from scratch hoping the problem would go away. It worked for a while, but then after a few hours stopped saving stuff & after logging out, I cannot log in again & it wont even allow registration.

Field Summation in Views

Is there any easy way to add a summation of a field to a view?

For example, if I have a CCK custom node with date, hours and description and I create a view that displays all of the nodes with date in the current month. How can I (non programmer) get a summation of the hours displayed?

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

Authenticate a change of password modual? does one exists?

I have noticed one thing that i think Drupal needs if it has not already been done.

When you change your password i think an email sent to that new email address to get them to confirm that it is a real email and not just someone signing up and then change their email and start spamming the site as you would not be able to ban them if the email was fake!

if one does exists please advise what it is called or better still a link.

thank you

Jason

Hierarchical menu navigation - proper way

My first post here so hallo to everybody.

Firstly - sorry for my English. It's not my native language :/

As a newbee in Drupal I have few questions trying converting my site to Drupal. I'm not so good in explaining stuff so... I will show you what I want to achieve in few illustrations.

Let say I have following menu (navigation) structure:

  • X menu item
    • X-sub1
      • page 1
      • page 2
      • story 1
    • X-sub2
      • page 1
      • gallery 1
    • X-sub3
      (...)
  • Y menu item
    (...)
  • Z menu item
    (...)

So there is 3 level depth menu. Level 1 is main navigation manu. Second level links shows only when I click on first level division and so on.

spam in comments

I like to allow comments to unregistered visitors, but I'm terribily spammed by thoses stupids "cialis viagra" and so on ressellers.

Is it a what to introduce a visual code or something like that to protect from automatics robots ?

thank you

user own sound, video ...

I use mainly drupal for free blogging plateform. I would like each user can have his own sounds, musics, gallery, and videos.

What is the easyer way to do so, I 'm not a tech and don't know php things.

Thank you
